Warranty Info:
Getting Outdoors with Mike and Yvonne warrants its navigation tablets against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the original date of purchase by the original purchaser.
This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the device.
1. Return Requirements:
- The device must be returned in its original box with all original serial numbers intact and legible.
- Proof of purchase may be required to validate warranty coverage.
2. WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
This warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from any of the following:
- Physical damage caused by accidents, abuse, misuse, or neglect of any kind.
- Devices that have been dropped, subjected to impact, or physically damaged.
- Liquid damage of any kind, including spills, submersion, or moisture exposure.
- Debris, dirt, or foreign material found in the USB-C port or any other connector or opening.
- Unauthorized modification, repair, or disassembly of the device.
- Normal wear and tear over time.
Programming Fee Notice:
If a tablet must be completely re-programmed due to customer-related issues (including but not limited to software modifications, settings corruption, or user error), a programming fee may be assessed. This fee will be communicated prior to any service being performed.
3. BATTERY WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
Battery performance and longevity are significantly affected by how the device is used and stored. This warranty does not cover battery damage or failure resulting from improper use, including the following conditions:
Covered Exclusions Include:
- Deep Discharge State — Allowing the battery voltage to drop critically low by leaving the device fully depleted and uncharged for an extended period (days, weeks, or months) may result in irreversible capacity loss.
- Irreparable Battery Failure — Repeatedly allowing the battery to drain completely to 0% and leaving it uncharged risks total battery failure, which may require professional replacement at the owner’s expense.
- Chemical and Physical Damage — Prolonged over-discharge can cause chemical degradation of internal components, increased internal resistance, and in extreme cases, physical deformation or swelling of the battery casing.
- Safety Circuit Shutdown — Internal protection circuits may permanently disable the battery if voltage drops below a critical safety threshold (approximately 2.5V–3.0V) to prevent dangerous short circuits upon recharging.
Important Note:
While modern tablets are designed to shut down before reaching absolute zero charge in order to protect the battery, the battery continues to slowly discharge even when the device is powered off. Leaving a device in this state for an extended time may cause permanent damage that is not covered under this warranty.
4. RECOMMENDED STORAGE GUIDELINES
If you do not plan to use your tablet for an extended period, follow these guidelines to prevent damage and preserve battery health:
- Charge to Approximately 50% — Lithium-ion batteries are most stable when stored at roughly 50% charge capacity.
- Fully Power Off the Device — Do not leave the device in standby or sleep mode. Power it off completely to minimize background power draw.
- Recharge Every 3 to 6 Months — Periodically recharge the device back to approximately 50% to compensate for natural self-discharge over time.
- Avoid Temperature Extremes — Store the tablet in a cool, dry environment at room temperature (ideally between 32°F and 95°F / 0°C and 35°C).
5. DAILY BEST PRACTICES FOR BATTERY LONGEVITY
For regular everyday use, following these best practices will extend the overall life and performance of your tablet’s battery:
- Maintain battery levels between 20% and 80% during normal use for optimal lithium-ion cell health.
- Avoid frequently discharging the battery below 15–20%, as doing so accelerates chemical aging and reduces the total number of usable charge cycles over the device’s lifetime.
- Avoid leaving the device plugged in at 100% for extended periods, which can also contribute to long-term battery degradation.
6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Getting Outdoors with Mike and Yvonne shall not be liable for any incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use this product. Our liability is expressly limited to repair or replacement of the defective product, at our sole discretion.
